First Toa Payoh Primary School is a government school dedicated to nurturing students to be lifelong learners, responsible citizens, and compassionate leaders. The school's vision is to be a "Community of Learners, Leaders and Champions," and its educational philosophy is anchored in its core values of respect, responsibility, resilience, integrity, care, and harmony.

The school provides a holistic education in a supportive and engaging environment. Its Applied Learning Programme (ALP) focuses on developing effective communication skills through journalism. First Toa Payoh Primary School was established in 1968. In 2002, it merged with Braddell, San Shan, and Westlake Primary Schools.
