Data Analytics in Social Media

Day 1 will be devoted to the basics of information retrieval in Social Media, focusing with text. Introduction to inverted indexes, and shows how simple Boolean queries can be processed using such indexes. How documents are preprocessed before indexing and by discussing how inverted indexes are augmented in various ways for functionality and speed. Discussion on a number of algorithms for constructing the inverted index from a text collection for highly scalable and distributed algorithms to support information access from large amount of unstructured particularly textual data and natural language processing.



Day 2 will cover topics in Data Analytics and Mining focus on information retrieval. The principles of various fundamental, machine learning techniques and their applications. Application in classifying documents, and searching for similar documents, statistical classification as one of the key technologies for a successful search engine, other machine learning techniques include Naive Bayes, kNN, support vector machines, Active learning for construction of labeled data.
