• Navigate and be discerning on the most effective multimedia elements for creating online news content
• Recommend and strategically plan a course of action to address fake news

What You'll Learn

The overall objective of the module is to provide participants with an overview of media literacy and analysis of the online news space in the age of digital - the characteristics, tools and impact. They would be equipped with the theoretical and practical perspectives of how to create impactful multimedia news stories, media law and to cast a discerning eye in combating disinformation in online stories. Participants would be put through a simulation exercise using an app game on the triggers, language and controls in battling fake news. This would include how to identify misinformation, understand the mechanics behind it and strategise a course of action.
