About This Course

Upon graduating from the course, graduates should be able to:
• Demonstrate knowledge that complements their working experience in aircraft maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification and other aviation related fields;
• Understand aviation human factors, aviation legislation, project management skills and lean processes relevant to the aviation industry;
• Understand the application of basic thermodynamics and fluid mechanics to aircraft gas turbine engines;
• Understand the principles used in the design of airframe structures, aerodynamics and flight controls;
• Understand and apply fundamental knowledge in electrical and electronics that are used in aircraft instruments and systems.

What You'll Learn

This subject will equip students with the theoretical knowledge in aviation maintenance practices. The topics include safety practices on aircraft, hangar and workshop facilities, basic tools usage, and interpretation of engineering drawings as well as aviation hardware technology. Students will also be introduced to the fundamental maintenance procedures of aircraft weight and balance, aircraft handling and storage, aircraft inspection and repair techniques.

Entry Requirements

‘O’ Levels
At least 3 ‘O’ Level passes in the following subjects:
English Language (EL1 or EL2) Grade 1 – 7
Any mathematics subject Grade 1 – 6
Any science subject Grade 1 – 6
and 1 year of relevant working experience OR

Higher Nitec
GPA ≥2.0 OR

GPA ≥1.5 and 1 year of relevant working experience OR

Nitec
GPA ≥3.5 OR
GPA ≥3.0 and 1 year of relevant working experience OR

Higher Nitec in Technology/Services
GPA ≥2.0 and 1 year of relevant working experience OR

Nitec in Technology/Services
GPA ≥3.5 and 1 year of relevant working experience OR

WSQ Qualification
Relevant WSQ Qualification with 1 year of relevant working experience and WSQ Workplace Literary Statement of Attainment (SOA) (Level 6) AND Workplace Numeracy Statement of Attainment (SOA) (Level 6)

Without relevant academic qualifications
At least 2 years of relevant working experience
