About This Course

This aims of this subject are to equip students with the basic knowledge and skills to:

Explain the principles and techniques of chromatography in relation to industrial applications
Apply the technical skills in operating and maintaining various chromatographic systems such as gas and liquid chromatography

What You'll Learn

This subject covers advanced principles and applications in chromatography. Topics included are the principles and analytical techniques in chromatography, gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, quality assurance and method validation. Strong emphasis will be placed on hands-on practice and discussion of common troubleshooting issues using case studies. An introduction to hyphenated techniques will also be covered.

Entry Requirements

Diploma or ITE Technical Diploma/Technical Engineer Diploma/Work-Learn Technical Diploma in Applied Sciences/Engineering or equivalent; Degree in Science/Engineering or equivalent.


Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
