About This Course
This course will equip participants with the necessary theoretical foundation and practical application skills to carry out the work for commercial and industrial low voltage installation
What You'll Learn
Design for Commercial and Industrial Low Voltage Installation
• With the use of small installation test boards and MSB, demonstrate a typical single line diagram and its various components e.g. DP, 4P, TPN, TP, RCCB etc.
• Understand the essential information of ACB and MCCB, and the meaning of mechanical and electrical interlocks
• Explain the functions of protective relays and associated CTs on main switchboard and understand the essential information included in single line diagram for both permanent and temporary supply
• Apply concepts to design a 200A three-phase permanent electrical installation, with given parameters such as 200A 3-phase main intake switchboard and DB for the electrical installation shop front/office in a commercial building. Based on the lighting and power layout plan, learner is to develop a single line diagram showing correct arrangement before and after the kWhr meter. Learner is required to size the breakers and cables, and clearly indicate essential information into the single line diagram, considering factors such as design current, prospective short circuit current and voltage drop
• Apply concepts to design a 100A three-phase temporary supply installation (with Genset), in compliance with standards & procedures in designing new supply installation, for a construction site connecting to 32A DB for site office lighting and power, as well as one 32A SOA. Parameters will be given, and learner is expected to consider breakers/cable size, earthing etc to come up with single line diagram based on requirements for CP 88 Part 1
Distribution Switchboard Maintenance for Commercial and Industrial Low Voltage Installation
• Apply IEC 61439 & SS 619 for LV Switchgear & Control Assemblies - constructional requirements, degree of protection for switchboard enclosure, testing requirements include type testing, making & breaking capacity, internal segregation/compartment of LV switchboard
• Apply SS 538 on maintenance of LV electrical equip
