About This Course
This module prepares you to provide the necessary concepts and fundamental knowledge of building components and construction. It also introduces various productivity enhancing technologies such as Prefabricated Bathroom Units (PBU) and Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Components (PPVC) and Cross Laminated Timber (CLT). It also covers the fundamental knowledge on the functions and requirements of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) building services. It covers project initiation, preparation of early estimates of project budgeting. It also includes risk and value management, qualitative and quantitative methods for risk management, information technology for risk management, managing financial risks in construction projects. It also introduces the concepts and principles of life cycle costing, its purpose and the economic technique through identifying and quantifying all initial and on-going costs associated with assets over a building’s expected life. The impact of new legislation for environmental sustainability on LCC for sustainable development.

Entry Requirements
The applicant must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident or holder of valid employment pass/ work permit; and possess one of the following qualifications:
a) A diploma (min course duration of 2 years) or equivalent qualification
b) A relevant Advanced Certificate / Higher NITEC / Advanced NBQ with 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience
c) A relevant certificate with 4 to 5 years of relevant work experience
d) NITEC / Higher NBQ with at least 5 years of relevant work experience
