WSQ Higher Certificate in Tourism (Events Management and Operations)
About This Course
At the end of the Higher Certificate course, students will be able to:
• Identify needs of participants’ travel requirements, support logistics activities, and support registration processes during MICE events;
• Use basic communication skills to develop and maintain positive relationships and mutual trust within the workplace;
• Go the extra mile in providing excellent service, which involves creating a positive customer experience and escalating areas of improvement that may enhance the customers’ experience;
• Support Workplace Safety and Health inspections by conducting checks to identify non-compliances, unsafe work conditions, and practices within the work area, and communicate the risks and control measures to relevant stakeholders;
• Conduct basic research on target markets and potential audiences, to generate ideas for MICE content, programmes and formats that are aligned to the organisation’s strategies;
• Describe the tourism landscape in Singapore, identify the roles of government agencies to support the tourism industry, and monitor changes in guests’ demand;
• Adopt new technologies to enhance operations or processes in MICE events;
• Describe the current and emerging technologies in the industry and document the impact on workplace processes and activities; and
• Describe basic accounting principles, gather data, maintain records, perform financial calculations and record accurate compilation of financial data.
What You'll Learn
The full programme consists of a Higher Certificate, an Advanced Certificate, and a Diploma.
Entry Requirements
1) WPLN 4 / WSQ Certificate in Tourism / NITEC / Qualifications of equivalent standard may be recognised on a case-to-case basis
2) Able to speak, listen, read and write English at a proficiency level not lower than the Employability Skills WSQ Level 4 Workplace Literacy (WPL)
3) Successful Interview
4) International applicants must have a valid work pass throughout the entire duration of the course
