About This Course
A competent individual must be able to successfully perform the following:
1.1Comply with the requirements of WSH Act
1.2Participate in a tool box meeting
1.3Select and use the appropriate personal protective equipment provided for the work in compliance with WSH Act
1.4Maintain and store personal protective equipment provided in accordance with organisational procedures
1.5Interpret and follow safety signs and instructions at workplace
1.6Follow road safety signs
1.7Identify safety devices and emergency equipment
1.8Carry out housekeeping of workplace in accordance with organisational procedures

Principles of the new Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Framework
Duties and responsibilities of a worker under the WSH Act
Penalties for non-compliance
Roles and activities of the Workplace Safety and Health Committee
Purpose and agenda of a toolbox meeting
Types of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Common hazards associated with the misuse of PPE
Types of safety signs and instructions relating to the use of PPE, their importance and purposes
Types of safety devices and emergency equipment
Importance of road safety and road safety signs
Workplace housekeeping procedures
Workplace equipment, machinery and safety devices

Entry Requirements
Learners are assumed to:
have basic knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE)
know how to use basic PPE provided at workplace
be able to follow written and oral work instructions
be able to listen, read, speak and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System (ESS) level 2
be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills System (ESS) level 2
