Advanced Certificate in Crisis Management for Business Module 1: The Fundamentals of a Crisis Strategy (Synchronous E-learning)

In the age of social media and digital communication, the response to handling a crisis effectively is paramount to business continuity, the morale of staff, impact on reputation and eventual survival of an organisation regardless of their size. The overall objective of this certificate programme is to equip participants with a strategic framework of crisis management through the life cycle of managing a crisis from prevention, identification, management and recovery. A systematic and practical approach is adopted with real-life crisis case studies, scenario planning and organisational, team and individual capabilities that would be required at each step of the crisis life-cycle. This includes understanding the terminology and language for effective crisis communication with internal and external partners, the press and social media; identifying issues unique to each industry and organisation that could trigger a crisis; managing a crisis with internal and external stakeholders; and post-crisis recovery.

This module provides participants with an overview of a crisis life-cycle and the steps that define a crisis strategy from pre-crisis, managing a crisis and post-crisis.
