About This Course
This course aims to give a short introduction to resilience studies, focusing on how communities and institutions develop capacity to withstand disaster and disturbance and bounce back from crisis. It examines how some societies are more resilient and others less resilient. It draws on advanced theories of risk and resilience from sociology, anthropology, and history. Students will learn how to apply these theories in disaster governance and crisis management.
