Design of Interactive Learning Environments (Classroom & Asynchronous e-learning)
About This Course
This course aims to create opportunities for investigating and understanding the design of Interactive Learning Environments (ILEs) and envisioning the design of new ILEs that support diverse learning needs. Learners will also develop critical perspectives on Educational Technologies as well as be able to integrate various types of interaction into an online learning environment. They will craft pedagogical, social, and technical design specifications for ILEs. Learners will also be able to evaluate ILEs from pedagogical, social and technical perspectives. This course will also have learners learn to scale educational innovations by anticipating and addressing implementation issues associated with ILEs in school contexts. The consideration of some of the problems for which ILEs can be solutions and some of the contributions that existing platforms and tools offer will be coupled by individual reflection and collective discussions that link these aims and considerations to learners’ careers as teachers, trainers, facilitators, or other learning professionals.
What You'll Learn
- describe the role of Interactive Learning Environments (ILEs) in the development and comprehension of pedagogical issues
- differentiate and apply relevant methodologies for designing, building and evaluating ILEs in the field of learning sciences
- explain the challenges involved in the development and testing of ILEs
- analyse recent technology trends and their potential implications for education
- anticipate and address common tensions associated with the implementation of innovative ILEs in school cultures.
