1. Widely explore and search for different sorts of Chinese learning materials such as picture books, literacy aids and listening materials etc. and resources according to local multicultural environment
2. Maximize the collecting and utilizing of all kinds of recycled materials and natural materials for teaching and learning aids development
3. Effective using the above materials and resources for multicultural and environment language education
4. Develop interesting, multicultural & environment oriented and localized Chinese learning activities by taking the advantages of using the above materials and resources

新加坡是多元文化的国家,文化的多元对其教育的影响体现在不同形式,不同内容的教材上(阅读,绘本,听力教材…);新加坡自然环境适于“生物成长”,树木丰富,自然材料多样。如何利用自然的有效资源,因地制宜,发挥优势,因“材”施教,十分值得探讨。本文试图从:1)环境对幼儿成长的影响。2)如何利用有利材料(案例分析)设计华语教学活动。
3)各类材料的使用及制作方法。三个方面来说明“材料”对 华语教学的影响。

As Singapore is a multicultural country, the impact of cultural diversity on its education should be reflected from utilizing different forms of teaching materials, such as literacy aids, picture books, listening materials and etc. Meanwhile Singapore is also a place rich in wide varieties of natural materials. Thus, as Preschool Language educators, it is important to be able to explore the usage of different natural resources according to the Preschools’ local environment. This course will focus on: 1) the environmental impact on the growth and development of young children. 2) how to utilize localized materials to design Chinese learning activities (by case study). 3) how to use recycled, natural materials to design teaching materials and learning aids. The above three aspects are the main points to illustrate how resources can impact and enhance the Chinese language education in Preschool.
