About This Course

This course aims to satisfy the industry needs of skilled workforce in the areas of concept art for the following sectors: Games, Animation, Visual Effects, Education (Training and Development), Art and Design, Marketing, Media.
Concept artists are responsible for the style and look of a game. They are the first to draw the characters (Design a Character) or its props. Working with a brief from the producer, their sketches are used to help 3D artists, producers, programmers and publishers understand how the game will look. The drawings of the concept artist are a vital part of the game’s development as they are the starting point of all the artwork and an important part of the marketing plans. A common misconception is that concept art is about doing cool and pretty drawings or illustrations. Concept Art is about ideas and solving problems for the 3D artists and game designers. Drawing is only a tool used to that end.
As more and more people play games, gaming industry is looking for highly skilled people to design and develop this game. The rise in gaming job opportunities have been fuelled by the expansion of 5G and the fact that more people are playing games due to Covid-19 social distancing restrictions. The audience for video games has also shifted—no longer the exclusive practice of hardcore gamers, video games have gained mass appeal in the form of serious and casual gaming, on the internet, on consoles, and smartphones.
