What You'll Learn

This module introduces participants to the four perspectives of ageing, namely Chronological Ageing, Biological Ageing, Psychological Ageing, and Sociological Ageing. Mental function, personality, and changes in a person’s roles and relationships are all playing a part in the ageing process. This module equips the participants with knowledge on the processes and problems associated with ageing. In addition, participants will gain practical knowledge on the promotion of cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, muscular fitness and good posture in the elderly.

Entry Requirements

a. Local Polytechnic Diploma or higher qualifications of any discipline which offer module(s) in any of the following areas:

• Allied Health
• Humanities and Social Sciences
• Sports Sciences
• Health Promotion
• Sports Coaching
• Public Health

b. Applicants with Local Polytechnic Diploma or higher qualifications but not taken any of the abovementioned academic modules e.g. Diploma in IT, may qualify for the programme with at least 2 years relevant working experience

c. Applicants do not meet the above entry requirement may be required to be further assessed through an interview and/or submission of a written essay on a given topic. Relevant experience encompasses additional related trainings, short course, workshops, or certifications obtained.
