About This Course
SUSS’s SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP) Certificate in Facilities Management, a 6-month certificate programme, supporting individuals in acquiring industry-relevant skills to improve employability in the Built Environment sector. This train-and-place programme is available on a part-time format with employment facilitation services incorporated.
The programme will span six months with curriculum built around competencies that the learners can put into practice during the programme. The curriculum will consist of six 2-day courses equipping you with skills, tools and techniques relevant in launching a successful career as a Building Officer / Facilities Officer / Property Officer / Building Executive / Facilities Executive / Property Executive.
What You'll Learn
1) Fundamentals of Facilities Management:
This course provides knowledge and understanding of the job scope of a Facilities Manager and key functions of Facilities Management.
It aims to equip students with an overview of the scope and practices of facilities management.
2) Procurement and Contract Management:
This course helps learners understand the fundamentals of managing contracts that are made as part of the legal documentation of forging solid work relationships with customers, vendors, and even partners.
It also teaches the integration of procurement and supply chain, procurement positioning, measurement, and final considerations.
3) Building Services:
This course provides an overview of building elements, mechanical & electrical services, building automation, fire safety & fire protection systems. It aims to equip students with the skills related to the building services and fire safety industry.
4) Sustainable Buildings:
This course provides an overview on the principles of sustainability and green building assessment methodologies for new and existing buildings.
It explores the regulatory framework and the underlying performance standards for sustainable buildings adopted by both locally and internationally.
5) SMART and Emerging Technologies for Facilities:
This course provides students with the concepts on advanced and integrated technologies used in buildings, as well as an overview on different SMART systems that are incorporated in the building automation systems, user systems and facilities management systems.
6) Resilience for Change:
This course introduces participants to the concept of resilience, particularly in exploring the variables that define resilience. Building upon the knowledge of concepts of resilience, participants will be made aware of the set of protective factors that they can develop to overcome adversity.
Entry Requirements
Individuals must meet all the requirements below in order to be eligible to apply for the programme:
• Singapore Citizen, Singapore Permanent Resident or LTVP+ holder
• At least 21 years old
• Self-sponsored learners (either unemployed or in-employment individuals)
