"Person-of-the-Therapist" (POTT) Online Training (Synchronous e-learning)
About This Course
This 'Person-of-the-Therapist' (POTT) training model is designed for practicing counsellors, psychologists, systemic therapists, social workers involved in counselling work, as well as trainee counsellors to assist them to draw on their inner experience and resources for the active and purposeful use of the self in therapy. Clinicians and trainees are taught how to identify, accept, and access their signature theme(s) in life, so as to bring about the needed therapeutic change in their client(s) and families. The aim of this online synchronous POTT training is to enable these clinicians and trainees to gain a greater mastery of oneself (self-awareness, self-access, and self-management) for the action of therapy (relationship, assessment, and intervention).
What You'll Learn
In this online synchronous POTT training course, students/ participants will progress through three stages during the course, as they work to identify their signature theme(s) and present it to their fellow participants/ classmates in a safe and supportive environment. They will also have the opportunity to gain awareness of the trigger(s) to their signature theme(s), and learn to utilize it therapeutically within the context of their role-play sessions and their clinical work. Focusing on the goals of the POTT training, the instructor will help the students/ participants to harness their new self-understanding, insights, and behaviors to improve their therapeutic effectiveness, and gain greater mastery of oneself as a “good enough” therapist.
Entry Requirements
Possess a Bachelor degree from a recognized institution or its equivalent, in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or Psychotherapy, with at least one year of counselling experience.
Good communication skills (written and spoken English).
