About This Course
The Advanced Certificate in Early Years (ACEY)(Chinese) aims to equip students to:
1. Observe and document children’s behaviours which will enable them to understand the development and learning of children from birth to three years of age and how to set up environments for exploration and play;
2. Acquire an understanding of the guiding principles, outcomes and sub-outcomes of the Early Years Development Framework (EYDF) and how to apply them to their practice with young children and families;
3. Ensure safety, health, hygiene and nutritional needs of children and their well-being are supported;
4. Interact with children respectfully, responsively and reciprocally in order to build trusting relationship which is fundamental for learning and development;
5. Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues, families and community stakeholders to support children’s care, experiences and development; and
6. Engage in reflective practice.
What You'll Learn
The ACEY/ ACEY (Chinese) has a course duration of 600 hours with 10 modules, clustered in 2 Modular Certificates, to be completed within 8-14 months. The course consists of 10 modules:
1. The Developing Child: Birth to Three (DEVC)
2. Health, Safety and Wellbeing of Infants and Toddlers (HSWB)
3. The Reflective Infant Educator (RFIE)
4. Responsive Caregiving Routines (RCGR)
5. Environments for Early Years Exploration & Play (ENEP)
6. Practicum Preparation (PCPR)
7. Practicum 1 (PRAC-I)
8. Practicum 2 (PRAC-II)
9. Practicum 3 (PRAC-III)
10. Partnership with Families & Community (PAFC)
Entry Requirements
The minimum entry requirements:
Local Qualification:
a) Completed Secondary 4 education and
b) attained WSQ Workplace Literary Statement of Attainment (SOA) (Level 5) or other English Language Acceptable Alternatives (ELAA).
Foreign Qualification:
a) Completed 10 years of formal education* and
b) attained WSQ Workplace Literary Statement of Attainment (SOA) (Level 5) or other English Language Acceptable Alternatives (ELAA).
*Official documents from institutions are required to show completion of 10 years of education.
