(PDECCE-T) Development in Infancy and Toddlerhood
About This Course
This module focuses on study on the development of infant and toddler from birth to 36 months. Principles of infant and toddler development, brain development, physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language development, individual differences will be form the study.
Students will learn to apply contemporary theories and literature to support the growth, well-being, learning and development of each child. They will also acquire the ability to guide and adapt teaching and learning practice by applying understanding of developmental stages of children birth to age 3 and acknowledging that all children have different strengths and learning abilities.
What You'll Learn
1. The ability to understand:
a. Developmental theories
b. Different areas of children’s growth and development
c. Expected milestones (developmental stages) across different areas of children’s growth and development (0-3 years)
d. Factors that contribute to children’s growth, well-being, learning and development
e. The relevant curriculum frameworks utilised in Singapore
2. The ability to:
a. Apply understanding of developmental stages of children birth to age 3 to guide practice
b. Apply understanding of contemporary theories and literature to support the growth, well-being, learning and development of each child
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have:
* 5 GCE ‘O’ level credits including a grade C6 in GCE ‘O’ level English Language OR Any English Language Acceptable Alternatives
OR
* 10 years of formal education in English as a medium of instruction and passed state exam with credits in 5 different subjects OR required to pass English Language
OR
* Degree with English as medium of instruction from state recognised university OR required to pass English Language Acceptable Alternatives
