(PDECCE-T) Young Children’s Language and Literacy Education
About This Course
This module explores a number of issues associated with the development of children’s language and literacy. It looks at an integrated approach to fostering literacy (reading, writing, listening, speaking, thinking, viewing, and visually representing) development in young children by exploring the stages of emergent literacy. Student will unpack the NEL Language and Literacy guidelines and study the implementation of a developmentally appropriate language arts curriculum for young children. Strategies for teaching reading to beginning readers will also be covered.
