About This Course
Teachers need a clear understanding of their own roles and responsibilities, as well as their responsibilities towards children, families and colleagues. This module explores the different code of ethics in the early childhood professional field and focuses on the professional knowledge and skills of educarers in line with the code of ethics and values so as to maintain their ethical conduct and boundaries in building their relationships with young children, family, and colleagues.
What You'll Learn
1. The ability to understand:
a. Ethical standards as outlined by various National and International documents
b. The core values central to the AECES Code of Ethics
c. Expectations for ethical conduct and professional integrity in early childhood settings
d. Ethical dilemmas or issues pertaining to the care of children
2. The ability to:
a. Demonstrate understanding of the core values central to the AECES Code of Ethics through behaviours and actions in the early childhood setting
b. Be accountable for own actions and decisions, and accept responsibility for them
c. Engage children, families and colleagues in a professional manner
d. Maintain professional boundaries in building relationships with children and families
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have:
a. Minimum Secondary 2* or minimum 8 years of formal education * and
b. At least an average SOA 4 in the WPL series
*Official documents are required to show completion of 8 years of education. Medium of instruction is to
be in English.
