About This Course

Early infant attachment is at the heart of healthy child development and lays the foundation for relating intimately with parents, caregivers, siblings, friends and others. Attachment in turn affects parents' and caregivers’ abilities to nurture, guide and respond effectively to the children.

In an infant toddler centre, routine care occupies the most time. Infants and toddlers depend much on the caregivers to meet their needs. Young children need routines because they make them feel safe and secure. Routines also provide opportunities for children to experience success in what they are doing, which then promotes self-control and self-esteem. These routines can be great opportunities for educarers to offer one to one interaction and play with the young children.

In this module, students will focus the respectful, responsive and reciprocal interactions to support child’s development of secure attachment and social-emotion through caregiving, as well as applying appropriate positive guidance techniques on young children’s behaviours.
