(PDECCE-T) Evaluate Teaching and Learning Approaches Aligned to Curriculum Frameworks
About This Course
This module provides an overview of principles in planning, implementing a developmentally appropriate early childhood programme. The module will focus on the skill to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning approaches by applying interpretation of observations and documentation of children’s learning, applying knowledge of foundations of effective teaching and learning approaches and collaborating with colleagues. It also includes applying understanding of each child and of group dynamics to identify and implement appropriate teaching and learning approaches.
Lesson planning, emerging curriculum, short and long term goals, small group and large group activities, organisation of space, time, and materials will be incorporated in the planning of the curriculum. Discussion of interest based and skill based curriculum will also be made. Students will be taught to create an integrated study, web and lesson plans. The iTeach Principles will be incorporated in the planning of the curriculum.

b. Apply and integrate a range of teaching and learning approaches to foster children’s learning
c. Apply interpretations of observations and documentation of children’s learning to refine teaching and learning approaches
d. Apply understanding of each child and the dynamics of the groups of children to identify appropriate teaching and learning approaches
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have:
* 5 GCE ‘O’ level credits including a grade C6 in GCE ‘O’ level English Language OR Any English Language Acceptable Alternatives
OR
* 10 years of formal education in English as a medium of instruction and passed state exam with credits in 5 different subjects OR required to pass English Language
OR
* Degree with English as medium of instruction from state recognised university OR required to pass English Language Acceptable Alternatives
