(PDECCE-T) Set Up Quality Learning Environments (Beginning Pre-school Teacher)
About This Course
Physical and social environments have profound effects on children’s development. Young children learn within the security of well-planned physical environments that support social interactions based upon respect and acceptance. space, accessibility to the outdoors, arrangement of rooms, availability of a variety of materials, air quality, equipment, and lighting play important roles in children’s well-being, learning and creativity.
Students will gain the ability to set up the learning environment purposefully, through interpretation of observations and documentation to provide engaging, stimulating and challenging learning experiences that support integrated learning and the curriculum. It also includes discussion of effective classroom management strategies to ensure minimal disruption to learning centre activities, curriculum delivery and learning.

c. Utilise developmentally appropriate learning resources to foster children’s learning
d. Utilise interpretation of observations and documentation to provide developmentally appropriate choices for children
e. Create a learning environment that supports integrated learning
f. Apply classroom management strategies to create an environment that is conducive to teaching and learning
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have:
* 5 GCE ‘O’ level credits including a grade C6 in GCE ‘O’ level English Language OR Any English Language Acceptable Alternatives
OR
* 10 years of formal education in English as a medium of instruction and passed state exam with credits in 5 different subjects OR required to pass English Language
OR
* Degree with English as medium of instruction from state recognised university OR required to pass English Language Acceptable Alternatives
