About This Course
Strong communities that support high quality early childhood education are built with purpose in mind. Advocacy efforts by individuals, professional associations, service organisations, and businesses are all helpful in the continuing efforts that communities place on high quality programmes for young children.
This module explores how the community affects children, families, and schools. Students will learn the approaches and techniques for working with organisations in planning, reflecting and organising the curriculum as well as other aspects of programme.
What You'll Learn
1. The ability to understand:
a. The importance and benefits of leveraging community stakeholders and resources
b. Community stakeholders available that can provide assistance to children and families
c. Community resources available that can benefit children and families
2. The ability to:
a. Identify and tap on community stakeholders and resources to benefit
children and families
b. Suggest relevant community resources to support families and children
c. Provide opportunities for children to observe and/or participate in community events
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have:
a. Minimum Secondary 4 education* or completed 10 years of formal education* and
b. At least an average SOA in the WPL series, including an SOA 5 for WPL-Writing
*Official documents are required to show completion of 10 years of education. Medium of instruction is to be in English.
