(HCIC) Assist in Setting Up Quality Learning Environments
About This Course
Infants and toddlers soak up every experience, every noise, and every sound from their surrounding environment. Providing a stimulating environment for infants and toddlers, both indoors and outdoors, have a profound effect on their learning and development.
This module is aimed to help educarers understand the importance of planning the physical environment and its impact on children’s total development. Discussion will be made on creating areas of interest in the classroom, planning the outdoor environment, what materials promote learning, how materials should be organised, and what safety guidelines need to be followed.

i. Strategies to set up a learning environment that supports the curriculum
j. Strategies to interpret observations and documentation of children’s learning
k. A range of developmentally appropriate learning resources
2. The ability to:
a. Contribute to the setting up of learning environments that are flexible and open-ended to support children’s needs and interests
b. Provide children with frequent and regular access to the outdoors, including opportunities to explore the natural environment
c. Maintain regular routines and programmes that are flexible to adapt to the children’s moods and interests
d. Assist in preparing and providing a range of materials or resources that reflect children’s developing skills and abilities, and encourage children to explore, discover, invent and learn
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have:
a. Minimum Secondary 2* or minimum 8 years of formal education * and
b. At least an average SOA 4 in the WPL series
*Official documents are required to show completion of 8 years of education. Medium of instruction is to
be in English.
