About This Course
The care of infants and toddlers has taken an important growth in the early childhood field in Singapore. An overview of the history, growth, policies, licensing requirements, quality, role and status of early childhood care and education in Singapore will be covered under this module. Introduction to the philosophies and models of early years care development and learning will be discussed to gain understanding of the models of practices available in the field.
Vision, mission and values are of core importance as they form the core ideas of practices in the centres. This module explores the centres’ vision, mission, and values, and its alignment with the curriculum and programmes. It also encourages participants on contributing to foster a culture that promote the mission, vision and values.

b. The rationale behind the centre’s vision, mission and values and its long term direction
c. How own actions can affect the centre’s objectives
d. Policies, licensing requirements, teacher certification and training requirements in Singapore
e. Varied models and approaches of the early years care development and learning
2. The ability to:
a. Articulate the rationale behind the vision, mission and values of the centre
b. Align daily practice to the centre’s vision, mission and values
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have:
a. Minimum Secondary 4 education* or completed 10 years of formal education* and
b. At least an average SOA in the WPL series, including an SOA 5 for WPL-Writing
*Official documents are required to show completion of 10 years of education. Medium of instruction is to be in English.
