About This Course

In an infant toddler centre, routine care occupies the most time. Infants and toddlers depend much on the caregivers to meet their needs. Young children need routines because they make them feel safe and secure. Routines also provide opportunities for children to experience success in what they are doing, which then promotes selfcontrol and self-esteem. These routines can be great opportunities for educarers to offer one to one interaction and play with the young children.

As infants and toddlers have a limited framework for understanding change and few resources to deal with stress than older children or adults have, transitions need to be managed carefully to help young children cope with any changes.

In this module, students will explore the importance of responsive care routines, gain knowledge of responsive caregiving and plan purposeful caregiving and transition activities to meet young children’s developmental and learning needs.
