About This Course
Knowing about young infants and toddlers’ growth and development is essential for educarers to work with young children. This module explores on the principles of infant and toddler development and young children’s patterns and sequences of development. Emphasis is placed on the study of the physical, motor, social, emotional, language and cognitive development of the very young child. Studying child development theory will help educarers to plan activities and experiences to support young children’s development.

2. The ability to:
Apply understanding of developmental stages of children from birth to 18 months to guide care-giving practice
Apply understanding of contemporary theories and literature to support the growth, well-being, learning and development of each child
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have:
a. Minimum Secondary 2* or minimum 8 years of formal education * and
b. At least an average SOA 4 in the WPL series
*Official documents are required to show completion of 8 years of education. Medium of instruction is to
be in English.
