(HCIC) Supervised Teaching Practice
About This Course
In this practicum phase, students are given the opportunities to under study and work with both young infants and toddlers and other practising educarers already in the field. Students will initiate and carry out effectively required roles and responsibilities in an infant / toddler care centre. They will take on the role of a warm and nurturing educarer and implement a variety of child-centred and responsive activities appropriate for infants and toddlers. Students are also required to work as part of the teaching team using effective communication techniques and resources.
Using all the theoretical study knowledge that the student has now amassed up to this point, it is expected that the student uses and shows competencies in linking theory to practice expected of an educarer, including planning of activities, child observation, setting up of learning environment, and carrying out of caregiving routines. The practicum has intended to help educarers to develop an appreciation of responsibilities and roles of centre, educarers and parents working in partnership for benefits of young children.
