(ACECCE-E) Music and Movement
About This Course
Creative expression in early years is pivotal in the development of the whole child. It allows young children to be expressive, creative and imaginative in their overall development and as individuals. Young children should be given ample opportunities to create, play and explore ideas and feelings through a variety of medium in music, movement, dance and drama. This module aims to equip students with suitable techniques for the expression of musical and movement ideas and an appreciation for rhythm through songs, movement, and dance.

1. The ability to understand:

▪ Strategies to teach a range of music and creative movement activities to children
▪ Core values of early childhood education as outlined in the NEL Framework
▪ Strategies to design and implement classroom activities and programmes that inculcate the core values of early childhood education
2. The ability to:
▪ Plan and implement child-centric music and movement activities that inculcate the core values of early childhood education
3. The ability to:
▪ Contribute to the planning and implementation of child-centric creative activities and programmes that inculcate the core values of early childhood education
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have:
a. 3 GCE ‘O’ level credits including a grade C6 in GCE ‘O’ level English Language OR Any English Language Acceptable Alternatives
OR
b. 10 years of formal education and passed state exam with credits in 3 different subjects including a credit at least C6 in EL1 or any English Language Acceptable Alternatives
