About This Course
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Understand and analyze the most recent controversies in copyright law, including challenges to cable and broadcast TV business models;
2. Evaluate the copyright status of appropriation art and its implications in the context of intellectual property law;
3. Examine the permissibility of mass digitization and its impact on copyright infringement cases;
4. Investigate the phenomenon of copyright trolls and analyze their strategies and legal implications; and
5. Explore the copyright implications of universities' electronic library reserve policies and their impact on access to educational materials.

This course is offered under the Faculty of Law's Graduate Coursework Programmes in Intellectual Property & Technology Law.
Advanced copyright will examine a number of the most recent controversies in copyright law, including challenges to the cable and broadcast TV business models, the copyright status of appropriation art, the permissibility of mass digitization, the phenomenon of copyright trolls, and the copyright implications of universities' electronic library reserve policies. Students must have completed a course in basic copyright law.
