About This Course
The module covers the examination of the environmental, health and safety (EHS) challenges in the workplace. The first part of the module introduces the different EHS legislation, types of hazards, and risk control measures that can be implemented to create a safe work environment. The second part of the module focuses on managing hazardous substances. This includes identifying sources of hazardous substances, implementing control measures and managing the associated risks.
What You'll Learn
By the end of the module, students should be able to:
• Interpret Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) regulations in Singapore and describe different EHS management systems.
• Describe EHS aspects/hazards and impacts for physical hazards and implement control measures.
• Describe hazards and impacts for ergonomic, biological and psychosocial hazards and implement control measures.
• Describe EHS aspects/hazards and impacts for hazardous substances
• Describe control approaches for hazardous substances and implement engineering control measures, administrative control measures and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for hazardous substances
• Describe and implement the steps for management of risks due to hazardous substances
• Implement a Management of Hazardous Chemicals Programme for a workplace and good risk management practices
