What You'll Learn

Engaging and teaching persons with learning disabilities requires an in-depth understanding of learning disabilities and and strategies for doing so. This course is targeted at professionals who need to interact and work with families of children and adolescents with learning disabilities. Participants in this course will get to learn about the characteristics of persons with learning disabilities and the impact it has on their learning and adaptive living. In addition to learning how to communicate and apply basic behaviour supports when managing challenging behaviours, participants will also get to learn strategies in teaching persons with learning disabilities.

Entry Requirements

The skills and knowledge for this course, which the learner is assumed to possess, are as follows:
* basic understanding of the different types of disabilities
* A minimum of GCE ‘N’ Level with credits including English Language as a first language; or
* Be able to listen, speak, read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualifications (ES WSQ) Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 5
