By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
1. Apply principles of Universal Design for Learning in the adapting of programmes to meet needs of persons with disabilities
2. Propose solutions to address potential challenges in implementing programmes with persons with disabilities
What You'll Learn
In moving towards building an inclusive society to integrate persons with disabilities, there is a need to re-look at designing and adapting programmes that cater to persons of all abilities. This module will introduce participants to the elements of Universal Design for Learning and how they can be applied in adapting programmes to suit the needs of children and adolescents with special needs, while placing the needs of persons of all abilities in the heart of the adaptation process. Participants will be guided on how they can adapt the existing programmes from their workplace to meet the needs of persons with disabilities. Participants will walk away from the course with prototypes of programmes that can be implemented in their engagement with persons of all abilities.
Entry Requirements
The skills and knowledge for this course, which the learner is assumed to possess, are as follows:
* A minimum of GCE ‘N’ Level with credits including English Language as a first language; or
* Be able to listen, speak, read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualifications (ES WSQ) Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 5
